At Gumpert Homestead, we don’t just farm — we homestead with purpose. Our decision to homestead comes from a deep desire to reconnect with traditional skills while using modern tools to build a more sustainable future for our family.
We believe in learning the “old ways” — gardening, animal husbandry, food preservation, self-sufficiency, craftsmanship, and land stewardship — while combining them with today’s technology, research, and eco-friendly practices. This balance allows us to honor the past while preparing for the future.
One of our biggest motivations is raising our twin boys with strong values rooted in hard work, responsibility, and real-life skills. On our homestead, learning doesn’t come from a screen — it comes from feeding animals before school, collecting eggs at sunrise, planting gardens by hand, and understanding where food truly comes from.
Homesteading teaches patience, problem-solving, resilience, and respect for nature. These lessons shape not only better farmers — but stronger, more grounded individuals.
By building Gumpert Homestead, we are creating more than a farm. We are building a lifestyle centered on family, education, sustainability, and community. Every project we take on — from restoring buildings to raising livestock — is done with the goal of passing these skills down to our children and sharing them with others who want to live more intentionally.
For us, homesteading isn’t a trend — it’s a legacy in the making.
